About

 Hi! 😊

Welcome to my personal development blog, Success Is The Only Option.

If you are looking for ideas, advice and resources to help you live a more successful life (however you define success), then you are in the right place!

The goal of this blog is to share what I have learnt through my various experiences in the hope that it might benefit you, or someone else, in achieving more and living your version of success.

The information that I share will help you to:

  • Become more confident and improve your self-image
  • Improve your relationships
  • Gain clarity on your goals and your life's purpose
  • Improve your productivity and become more efficient
  • Manage your finances more effectively
  • Understand other financial opportunities available
  • Take responsibility for your life and take the action required to move forward....

Who am I?

My name is Peter Coakley, I am a 35 year old Civil Engineer from England.

Things are going well now, but they weren't always like that...

In my early adult life I struggled - mentally, I was so stressed and angry I felt like I could explode at any time. Financially - although I always worked multiple jobs, I couldn't manage my finances and didn't have a penny to my name, I was drowning in debt I couldn't afford and eventually ended up homeless, spending some time sleeping rough before eventually graduating to a friend's sofa.

Through redundancy in the financial crash of 2008, I was then forced out of work as a mechanic and left with a choice of taking benefits, or trying to get into University (where I would at least get student loan whilst learning) as work was in short supply - I took the latter, and managed to get a place.

I got back on my feet, went through Uni whilst working 3 jobs with a new born baby, got my degree and got started in my career in 2013.

In 2018 I became fascinated by success, particularly in terms of the financial measure of success - what makes one person rich and another from a similar environment poor?

How can millionaires get rich, lose all their money then make it all back again - becoming a millionaire   2, 3 or more times when most people never get anywhere near it...

I reasoned that the only realistic difference was the way one person thinks vs another, so I set out to study the success mindset, and I want to share with you what I have learnt.

The thing is, up until this point - apart from the books i HAD to read in University when studying for my degree, I hadn't picked up a single book to read in my entire adult life.... but that had to change.

You see, at this point I was fed up - I was going through a break-up from a toxic 14-year relationship (probably the route of a lot of my early problems), and although I had worked hard to get my degree and an above average paying job, I felt like I wasn't getting anywhere fast and was frustrated with my work as I was not progressing (even though I was working hard).

I started to research the topic of success, and one of the things I found was that successful people had the habit of reading, so that's what I started to do....

The first book I read was Rich Dad Poor Dad, by Robert Kyosaki. Whilst not necessarily a personal development book, it showed me that there was a whole other way to live rather than working 9-5 every day - it opened my mind, and I became hooked on learning more.

Since then I have read 156 books to date, and consumed more YouTube content and podcasts than you can shake a stick at.

I have taken in and put to work a lot of valuable information from some of the most successful people on the planet from various generations.

I have tried, and failed, at many business ventures - I have had some success with a few. I carry on learning from my mistakes as I go and implementing the lessons forwards into the next opportunity.

Surprisingly though, the two biggest changes I have noted have been in my own mindset, and in my profession...

That's right, 4 years after setting out to ditch my job, I am still doing it - only now I do it on my terms!

I chose my hours of work (within reason), can work remote from anywhere and now earn 10x what I did when I started - I never even knew that was possible back then, but it is....

And I truly put it down to working on myself.

Learning to set goals and visualising, taking responsibility, adding value, ditching the drains from your life, understanding your own mind, meditation, continuous learning, managing your finances properly, reprogramming your belief system, taking action - These are things that I worked on that helped me to move forward, hopefully they can help you too.

Of course, we are all different, and I am no therapist - I cannot offer medical advice and I do not know your current situation, I only aim to share my experiences and learnings with you in the hope that they may also benefit you too.

What Have I Achieved?

Some examples of things I have achieved since I started my success journey are:
  • I successfully exited a narcissistic relationship with custody of my son
  • Starting over again from -£1986 in the bank, I bought my own house
  • I increased my earnings 10x to multiple 6 figures annually
  • Built up a 6-figure investment pot from an initial £1000 investment; including
  • Flipped a house making £50k profit
  • Cleared off £80k of debt
  • Started multiple online businesses
  • Changed from a worrying, negative, stressed mindset, to a positive, relaxed stress free mindset
  • I have become much more confident and outgoing
  • Achieved personal bests in all lifts in the gym including a 360kg deadlift and 260kg Squat

What's Next for Me?

Well, due to my success so far, I am now earning enough to live comfortably - but what I do need is time - that all important commodity that no amount of money can buy!

That is why I decided to reignite this blog - which I started in 2019 originally, but let it go stale for a while.

I figured that if I can find enough people interested in what I have to say, then I can turn this into a scalable, money making business that can hopefully one day allow me to step away from my career and go travelling around the world.

I would make money through 3rd party advertisements on the site and from affiliate links for products or services that I may recommend to you.

I also have a goal to become a millionaire - why? Just because... has a nice ring to it doesn't it? It does go deeper than that, but that's one for another post - maybe it will be titled 'Notes from my therapy sessions...'

The best part is, as I figure it all out, I will continue to write about it so you can follow along yourself if you wish!
